Could one of Egypt's most famous and beloved superstars be originally... Yemeni?

Once again rumors are surrounding Amr Diab's real nationality, with statements made by a close friend of Amr's father suggesting that the singer isn't who he says he is!

Both Egyptians and Yemenis have dark tones, so it's a bit hard to tell for us! However, the source claims that the singer's father, who's currently residing in the south of Yemen, comes from a large Yemeni family called "Al Awaliqa."

He added that Amr's real name is Amdeeb Saleh Al Awaliqi. Could Amr Diab be his stage name after all?

His father may not be Egyptian, but Amr's mother certainly is! According to Sayidaty.net, the "Amarain" hitmaker's parents met at university in Egypt, but divorced after Amr was born.

The father had then returned back to Yemen, while leaving his baby and mother behind, and didn't care to make any contact with them for many years.

Meanwhile, close sources to the singer stressed that he's 100% all Egyptian and the rumors were only created to give doubts to Amr's nationalism!
