IHSM sponsors Shashemooke student to China

FRANCISTOWN: A 25-year-old Shashemooke man, Mmilili Santu has acquired a two-year sponsorship from a local company to further his engineering studies in China.

Santu will be going to pursue a Master’s Degree in Mining Engineering courtesy of a partnership between the Institute Of Industrial Health and Safety Management (IIHSM) and Wuhan University in China. IIHSM is a training and consultancy firm whose main business is to educate and train in mining related workplace training. Currently the company has 42 accredited training programmes with Botswana Qualification Authority (BQA).

Speaking at the farewell dinner, IIHSM Chief Executive Officer Tirelo Phalalo said through their hard work and perseverance, strategic management and good leadership, they have been able to network internationally to improve their products and services and also plough back into the community.   “We have managed to acquire a strategic partnership between ourselves (IIHSM) and Wuhan University and Technology, which is a Chinese state institution,” he said.  He said Wuhan University is one of the best Asian universities focusing on engineering evolution and is in partnership with Chinesse Engineering Hub and other international universities such as Harvard University in the United States (US).
