A district court here on Wednesday granted three days’ transit remand of Ranjit Kumar Kohli alias Rakibul Hasan, accused of deceiving national gold medal winner shooter Tara Sahdeo into marrying him, and his mother Kaushalya Rani to Jharkhand police.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Satish Kumar Arora asked the investigating agency to produce the two before the court concerned in Ranchi within three days.
A joint team of Delhi and Jharkhand police had arrested the mother-son duo at Dwarka in South Delhi on Tuesday night. A Ranchi Police team had arrived here on a tip off that they were hiding in the Capital. A court had earlier issued non-bailable warrant against them.
‘Converted in 2007’Meanwhile, Kohli has told the police that he was a Hindu till 2007 when he came in touch with a tantric, identified as Arif, who converted him to Islam. Locals in Ranchi, however, knew him by both names.
Police sources said Kohli has registered a firm named Kaushalya Biotech Pvt. Ltd. in Jharkhand to evade any legal hassles but his actual work was liasoning. He was in touch with many politicians and businessmen and this facilitated his entry in the shooting range where he met Tara.
