The IMID 2014 features a large array of latest technologies, such as curved displays and fording tablets. The 14th International Meeting on Information Display (IMID), one of the world’s top three international symposiums dedicated to the display industry, has commenced in the southeastern city of Daegu, furnishing a one-stop access to a variety of whizzy new displays and latest research trends.

The IMID 2014, a four-day event (August 26 -29) held at EXCO Daegu, is organized by the Korea Information Display Society (KIDS), the US-based Society for Information Display (SID) and the Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA), and is sponsored by the Daegu Metropolitan City Government, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), Samsung Display, LG Display and the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST).

This year’s goal of the IMID, one of the world’s top three information display conferences, along with the US’s SID Display Week and Japan’s International Display Workshops (IDW), is to spur on exchanges of up-to-date display technologies, offer opportunities to keep abreast of research trends and serve as a rallying point for rising scholars and researchers from around the world, the organizing committee for the IMID 2014 says.

Approximately 600 papers, the largest ever in IMID history, will be presented.

The IMID 2014 is expected to provide display experts from nearly 20 countries with great opportunities to engage in vibrant discussions on technological advances in flexible displays, transparent displays, 3D touch technology, etc.

Roughly 600 papers  are to be presented at the IMID 2014. The IMID 2014 will begin with keynote speeches, delivered by Samsung Display CEO Park Dong-gun, Senior Researcher Adrian Travis at Microsoft, Dr. Martin Schadt from Switzerland-based MS High-Tech Consulting. Then, Invited Lecture & Oral Talk and poster presentations will proceed in a total of 17 subject categories throughout the thee-day event.

This year’s IMID also boasts a lineup of distinguished guest lecturers, who have been specially invited to lead Tutorials (TFT, OLED Material, Flexible), designed for students hoping to build a career in the display industry, and workshops (AMOLED TV, LTPS vs. Oxide TFT, etc.) for industry insiders.

In particular, up-and-coming, young scientists, whose papers have been introduced by prominent academic journals like Nature and Science, will serve as mentors at Young Scientists Forum in order to help students have a better understanding of industry-wide academic trends.
