India’s Kush Kumar and Lakshya Ragavendran retained the boys’ and girls’ under-19 titles in contrasting styles on the final day of the Indian Junior Open at the Indian Squash Academy on Wednesday.

While Kush continued to show exemplary touch, Lakshya had to dig into her reserves to ensure victory. The former downed Ranvijay Singh in straight games and the latter edged out Malaysia’s Aika Azman in a five-game final.

V.K. Jeyakodi, Member-Secretary, Sports Development of Authority of Tamil Nadu, gave away the prizes.

The results (finals):

Boys: Under-19: Kush Kumar bt Ranvijay Singh 11-9, 11-9, 11-6.

Under-17: Velavan Senthilkumar bt Ranjit Singh 11-4, 11-9, 11-4.

Under-15: Jesse Kok Sheng Foo (MAS) bt Mohd. Hafiz Zhafri Abdul Harif (MAS) 11-7, 11-3, 11-2.

Under-13: Yash Fadte bt S. Navaneeth Prabhu 13-11, 11-8, 11-6.

Under-11: Jeh Pandove bt Ameeshenraj Chandran (MAS) 8-11, 11-3, 11-4, 11-7.

Girls: Under-19: Lakshya Ragavendran bt Aika Azman (MAS) 11-8, 6-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-9.

Under-17: Akanksha Salunkhe bt Cheng Nga Ching (HKG) 11-9, 7-11, 11-8, 7-11, 12-10.

Under-15: Nikita Joshi bt Amita Gondi 11-8, 11-9, 7-11, 12-10.

Under-13: Aifa Azman (MAS) bt Samita Sivakumar 11-5, 11-6, 11-3.

Under-11: Sehveetrra Kumar (MAS) bt Nur Waffah Khairul Tajudin (MAS) 11-5, 11-4, 11-4.
