JAMMU, Aug 27: As part of series of functions for celebration of Van Mahotsav 2014, Sher-e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) today celebrated ‘Tree Plantation Day’ at its main campus at Chatha.
Prof PK Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J along with Shantmanu, Divisional Commissioner Jammu planted Camphor tree and Rudraksh saplings.
The other dignitaries present on the occasion included BM Sharma, Regional Director, Social Forestry; Dr VS Senthil Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer Jammu and Rajinder Sharma, SDM, RS Pura.
Director Education, Director Research, Deans, Registrar, Comptroller, PPMO, University Librarian, Heads of the Departments, Coordinators of various schools and faculty members of SKUAST Jammu planted saplings of different tree species around the newly constructed Health Centre and Estates Office of the University.
The students and NSS volunteers of the University planted more than two hundred saplings on this occasion. The event was organized by the division of Agro-forestry in collaboration with Department of Social Forestry Jammu and Kashmir.
