Medak by-election: Congress may contest on its own

August 25, 2014 08:25 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 05:41 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh has indicated that the Congress will contest the Medak Parliamentary seat on its own, thereby denying media reports that it might request TRS not to enter the fray as part of an alliance.

Reacting to the reports, Mr. Singh told the Congress brainstorming that there was no such proposal. He asked the party cadre to gear up for the municipal elections in Greater Hyderabad, Warangal and Khammam.

Mr. Singh exhorted the leaders to work as a constructive and destructive Opposition. The party will take up struggles against false promises of the TRS. The Congress will demand that the TRS implement its promise of 12 per cent reservation for Muslims, two-bedroom houses for the poor and crop loan waiver.
