Man arrives at eleventh hour before his ‘terahi’

The ‘terahi’ (13th day ritual of the last rites) of a youth on Wednesday turned into a celebration as he returned home just a day before in Jaunpur district on Tuesday. His return brought relief to two others, who were sent to jail on charges of murdering him.

Varanasi: The ‘terahi’ (13th day ritual of the last rites) of a youth on Wednesday turned into a celebration as he returned home just a day before in Jaunpur district on Tuesday. His return brought relief to two others, who were sent to jail on charges of murdering him.
According to reports, a decaying body was found near Murdaha ghat in Kerakat police station area on August 19.
One Sabhajit Ram of Mangreshar village in Buxa area identified the body as of his son Shyamle Ram, who had been missing since August 12. The body was cremated. His parents lodged a complaint of murder against Shyamle’s in-laws and police arrested two persons in this connection and sent them to jail.
When the family members were preparing rituals of last rites on Wednesday Shyamle returned home a day before. According to him, he left for home from Ahmadabad on August 12, but was caught at Lucknow railway station for traveling without ticket and sent to jail. His family members knew he was coming home, but they had no communication as he was in jail during this period. They even reported the matter to police. Meanwhile, hearing the news of the recovery of a body they went to the police station and identified him as Shyamle.
SP Jaunpur Pawan Kumar told TOI over phone that the persons jailed on murder charges would be released. Regarding identification of the body cremated the SP said photographs of the body would be sent to all police station to ascertain the identity.
