Trisha makes her Sandalwood debut in Power***
Puneeth’s back with a power-packed mass entertainer
This week’s big release is Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar’s film, which has been aptly titled Power***, in keeping with the actor’s onscreen image. The Kannada remake of the Telugu hit Dookudu, this one stars Trisha in the lead and marks her debut in the industry. “Frankly, I don’t look at it as a remake, but as a fresh product for a new market. In the case of Dookudu and our version Power***, I like the whole package.
I know it is not a heroine-centric film, but it is good to debut with a superstar,” says Trisha, adding that she worked on her look for the film.
For director K Madesh, the task was not just to remake the Telugu film, but to adapt it suitably for Puneeth. “For starters, we decided to make our version shorter and trimmed about 20 minutes from the original. Puneeth and Mahesh Babu, who starred in the original, have very distinct styles of acting, so we had to make changes to suit our hero. We also worked on his styling and action sequences to give audiences a whole new experience,” says the filmmaker. “That apart,” he adds, “the crackling chemistry between Puneeth and Trisha is worth a watch and comes across beautifully, especially in the songs.”
Despite the changes, comparisons are bound to be made between the original and Power***, but Puneeth is unfazed. “Comparisons will be made, no matter what we do. We have made a good film, which I am sure will be a treat for my fans. It is a complete mass entertainer,” he says.
