This article is more than 9 years old.

In the digital space, influencers are taking the world by storm.  Celebrity stylists, fashion bloggers, Youtube content creators, makeup artists, hair stylists and even Instagram celebrities are creating many of today’s fashion and beauty trends.  By posting one photo, they can organically promote a product to hundreds, if not millions, of followers.   I’m excited to be sharing my ‘Stylish Sips’ with you where I’ll be meeting with top trendsetters in the fashion and beauty industry.  Follow along to get weekly ‘Stylish Sips’ interviews from me!

Jacey Duprie is the creator and curator behind the blog Damsel in Dior, which encompasses fashion, lifestyle, beauty and home decor. The
name, Damsel in Dior, is not a misnomer, but instead symbolic of a
lifestyle {to never feel like a Damsel in distress!}. Currently
residing in West Hollywood, Jacey was recently featured in Huffington Post, Vanity Fair, WhoWhatWear, QVC and Refinery29 and has appeared in several ad
campaigns for SAKS, GAP/Old Navy and Levi's. She is also the
spokesperson for Seven Daughters Wine and contributing editor to other publications such as StyleMePretty
and Vanity Fair. I had the chance to catch up with Jacey at Zinque, a cute coffee and wine bar on Melrose Ave.

NAME: Jacey Duprie

OCCUPATION: Curator of Damsel in Dior

COMPANY NAME: Damsel in Dior

EDUCATION: B.A. In Communications {Journalism} with a minor in Professional Writing from DePaul University, Chicago

What was your inspiration to pursue your dreams?

If there is one thing my parents taught me it was to find something to do that makes you want to jump out of bed each morning. On a short stint of unemployment, I found myself dabbling around with my blog a bit more. Every day I would find myself waking up extra early so I could learn more about graphic design, HTML coding, photography {basically all of the less than glamourous side of blogging}. It didn't feel like work to me so I kept at it. Here I am two and a half years later still waking up to do what I love most.

What are you wearing right now?

J.Crew Regent Blazer & Skirt, Equipment Blouse, Clare Vivier Bag & Tory Burch Flats

What has been one of your biggest career challenges? How did you overcome it?

I think that I am actually facing it today. I absolutely love, love, love to travel but I have found over the past several months that it has taken a toll on allowing a healthy balance in my life. I am currently trying to work on finding harmony between my work life and my personal life because they are often so entertwined that it is hard to shut down my "work mode." I've made a conscious decision to scale back on my trips so that I can spend more time at home with family and friends because that part of my life fuels me just as much as my work does.

What is one of your greatest defining moments within the industry?

I was exceptionally flattered last fall when Gorjana & Griffin asked me to design a capsule collection for them. I created 25 pieces which were sold exclusively on their website and at The Grove. It was a defining moment for me because it offered recognition of not only my hard work, but approval of my style and taste. To me, it is the highest endorsement when a designer or magazine editor praises my work.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Never hope for it more than you work for it.
