Rita Ora was hoping to pull a Britney and Madonna at the VMAs with Iggy Azalea.

“I said to Iggy we should make out on stage and kiss during our performance,” the 23-year-old told the Sun. “She told me that would be crazy because it’s already been done. Britney Spears and Madonna kissing was my favorite VMA performance ever.”

Even though there was no lip lock involved, Ora and Azalea took over the VMA stage on Sunday night dressed in black webbed body suits decked out in glitter and rhinestones to perform their newest single, “Black Widow.”

The performance went off without a hitch, a stark contrast to when Azalea tumbled off stage while performing her hit song “Fancy” during a Pre-MTV Video Music Awards benefit concert held on Saturday,

“Bless her,” Ora said. “I was just happy she was OK because, God forbid, we couldn’t perform after all that. Can you imagine?”

Fresh off her breakup from DJ Calvin Harris, Ora is keeping herself busy. She’s got a second studio album due out early next year, will make her big screen debut in “Fifty Shades of Grey,” and was photographed for a just-launched Roberto Cavalli ad campaign.
