The Church of Scientology is holding a breakfast for congressional staffers, a historic first aimed at giving them a glimpse behind the scenes of its Dupont Circle mansion that serves as its headquarters.

In an email, the nonprofit group invites staffers to “Eat well, tour the historic Fraser Mansion and learn about the church’s humanitarian programs and public policy initiatives” at Wednesday’s “Recess Breakfast Buffet,” The Hill reported.

Public Affairs Director Bari Berger told ITK, which first reported the email, that the Church of Scientology has never done this before.

“Of course, we work on a lot of different issues on the Hill — we work on human trafficking, veterans’ issues — and we’re in touch with Hill staffers during the year,” she said. “People are familiar with our building.”

Scientology counts among its followers Hollywood megastars Tom Cruise and John Travolta.
