Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the owner and administrator of the GMAT exam worldwide, has announced the launch of an 'On Campus Test Centre' at VIT University, Vellore.

According to an official statement, "As a part of this initiative, GMAC is working towards simplifying the access for Undergrad students by allowing them to take the GMAT exam within the university campus itself. Given the surge of pre-experienced Masters programs like Masters in Management, Accounting, Marketing, Finance and other programs like Harvard 2+2, ISB YLP, ISB Early Entry Option etc. which offer deferred admission, this makes it an ideal platform for undergraduate students to give the GMAT exam from the campus. With easy access and round the year availability, the 'On Campus Test Centre' will allow students to take the GMAT exam basis their preparation and schedule."

GMAT is an entrance exam in the lines of CAT or MAT to gain admissions at global B-Schools, but has more recently been the preferred test for shorter executive MBA programs that experienced professionals tend to opt for.

In India, the GMAT exam is accepted for admissions at more than 200 programs offered at over 90 business schools. In all, 22,878 candidates took the test from India in 2013.

Management aspirants can also apply for CAT and MAT September 2014 exams, both of which are entry level exams to pursue post graduation in management studies.
