Meet would examine measures to step up utilization of LNG by industry in Kerala

Kochi: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Opposition Leader V.S. Achuthanandan, BJP state president V. Muralidharan, MPs and MLAs from the district and representatives of trade and industry besides management experts will take part in the LNG Mega Assembly being held at Trade Centre of Kerala Chamber of Commerce, here, on September 2.

Mission LNG chairman Mathew Kuruvithadam told reporters that the Assembly was being convened in the wake of the severe under-utilization of the Petronet LNG terminal, here. The meet would examine measures to step up the utilization of LNG by the industry in the state.

Mission LNG has also asked the government to reconsider the 14.5% VAT imposed on LNG and also appealed to the KSEB to reconsider its decision not to go for LNG-based plants in future.
