GURGAON: The state vigilance department has decided to probe the fodder scam that came to light two weeks ago following a request by the MCG.
The MCG has already taken action against its medical officer and has since sent him back to his parent department. However, the MCG is not convinced that the case is over as it believes some others, including some senior officials, could be involved in the fodder scam.

Two weeks ago, after receiving an anonymous tip, the then municipal commissioner, Praveen Kumar, along with mayor Vimal Yadav conducted a raid at the cow shelter run by the corporation. The complainant had claimed that while the shelter was supposed to get 180 quintals of fodder every day, for the past few months it was receiving only around 150 quintals.
The probe conducted by the commissioner revealed that the medical officer was behind this scam and he was relieved of his duties the same day. He, however, claimed that he had no role to play and that other people in the sanitation department were involved."The reason why we decided to ask the state vigilance department to probe the matter further is the likely involvement of some senior officials who could influence the investigation. There are two more officials within the sanitation department who are under the scanner and their role is being probed internally as well," said an official.
"Apart from probing this specific scandal, we have asked the state department to investigate other irregularities as well, including the tender documents issued by the sanitation department. The new commissioner too has stated that no mercy will be shown towards those involved in corrupt cases. The sanitation department was always involved in charges of corruption, but no concrete action has been taken against the officials so far," he said.
