NAGPUR: In a new twist, the Bhandara tiger skin and nails seizure case has raised fingers towards poaching of a tiger from Madhya Pradesh side of Pench reserve.
MP Pench officials have arrested four accused, three from Vijaypani village on the periphery of the park, and one from Khawasa in the last two days. All the accused have been remanded to magisterial custody.
Kingpin in Bhandara poaching case Vikas Maraskolhe had revealed that he was in possession of five tiger nails, which are six-month old. Officials had seized the nails from his house in Davezari.
Based on this clue, MP officials arrested the four accused. Pench field director Alok Kumar said, "We have seized two nails but only forensic tests can tell whether the nails are of tiger."
Kumar admitted that last year a tiger from Pench was electrocuted with the help of high tension electric line in a farm. The nails may be of the same tiger.
