Sena: Only hype can’t win elections

Saamna editorial tells BJP to learn a lesson from the loss.

The Shiv Sena, which is increasingly finding it difficult to adjust with the changing dynamics in the BJP, its three-decade-old ally, took a swipe at its alliance partner following the latter’s poor performance in the recently held by-elections in the country.

Telling the BJP to “learn a lesson” from the bypolls results and “self introspect” on what went wrong, the Sena in its mouthpiece Saamana said every one should realise that it is difficult to win elections only on media hype. “It is difficult to win elections only on hype. People voted in large numbers for Modi to set things in order. The situation in the states is, however, different. There is a serious need for introspection over the Bihar and Karnataka (bypolls) results to ensure that the favourable atmosphere does not get vitiated,” the editorial said.

In Bihar, the BJP could win only 4 of the 10 Assembly seats that went to the polls, and in Karnataka it won only one and lost the prestigious Bellary (Rural) seat to the Congress.

After the Lok Sabha elections, a buoyant BJP is keen to take over the role of the dominant partner of the alliance that for the past few decades had been the domain of the Sena.

The fact that the BJP is staking claim to contest more number of seats than the Sena in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections has riled Sena leaders, who are now finding it difficult to accept their declining clout at the Centre after Narendra Modi’s ascension as the Prime Minister.

“People taught a lesson to the arrogant Congress in the Lok Sabha polls. Though the number of seats in the recent bypolls is less, a similar lesson has been taught by the latest results,” the Sena editorial added.

TSBIE TS Inter Results 2024: Websites to check Telangana IPE 1st, 2nd year result

The TSBIE will announce the TS Inter results on April 24, and students can check their scorecards on the official websites. The exams were held from February 28 to March 19, and a total of 9,80,978 students appeared. The pass percentage for last year's exams was 63.27%. Students can also apply for re-evaluation or supplementary exams if they are unsatisfied with their results.
