Newborn abandoned along with umbilical cord

In the wee-hours of Tuesday morning, a four-day-old baby girl was found abandoned at Church Road by residents of Vishnupuri Colony. Her umbilical cord attached, the baby was left to die.

LUCKNOW: In the wee-hours of Tuesday morning, a four-day-old baby girl was found abandoned at Church Road by residents of Vishnupuri Colony. Her umbilical cord attached, the baby was left to die.
“The infant was found lying in a bylane next to a garbage bin,” said Avnish Kumar, sub-inspector at Vikasnagar police station. Later, police baby was handed over to Childline Lucknow.

Along with the police, Childline team took the baby to Balrampur hospital for medical examination before she was brought to Bal Shishu Grih, on Prag Narain road. According to the medical report, the baby is sound with no medical problem.
Talking to TOI, Harish Sivastava, assistant superintendent of the home, said “this is the second case of a girl child being abandoned in this month. On August 2, we got a 2-day-old baby girl found abandoned in Madiaon.”
That baby has been shifted to Munshi Lilavati Bal Grih Adoption Centre, Moti Nagar, said chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Dr Gulzar Ibrahim.
