Varanasi: Three youths thrashed a class XI student to death after they caught him in an objectionable condition with their sister in a field at Singhpur village under Sarnath police station on Monday night. The three assailants were arrested on Tuesday.
According to reports, Amit Patel (17) was a student at Mahabodhi Inter College in Sarnath. He had an affair with a class X student of the same college, who hailed from Singhpur village.
On Monday afternoon, Amit sent his friend Jugnu to set a meeting with her in a field in the night. Around 11.30 pm, the girl left home informing her father that she was going to field to relieve pressure.
However, when she did not return for more than half-an-hour, her father sent his sons, including Santosh alias Kaju (14) and Rahul (13), to inquire the delay. In the field, Kaju and Rahul saw their sister in an compromising position with Amit. The two headed back home and informed their elder brother Raju Pal. Later, the trio reached the field armed with sticks and started beating Amit.
In a bid to escape Amit ran towards a brick kiln but fell into a deep ditch. Raju and his brother also jumped into the ditch and thrashed Amit brutally. The girl, somehow, informed Amit’s family. However, Amit had died before they could come to his rescue. After few hours Raju and his brother raided Jugnu’s place and attacked him. However, he was saved by villagers.
After being informed, the Sarnath police arrested Raju, Kaju and Rahul. They were booked under sections 302 and 323 of IPC and 34 Police Act. Amit’s body was sent for postmortem while Jugnu was admitted to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya district hospital.
