PORTUGAL COVE-ST. PHILIP'S, N.L. - Police say it may be Thursday before a military dive team can investigate what appears to be a grenade found under water at a marina on Newfoundland's Avalon Peninsula.

An explosive disposal unit was called to help after what looks like military ordnance was found in Portugal Cove-St. Philip's.

Const. Steve Curnew of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the military team is expected to arrive Wednesday and will likely reach the scene Thursday.

He says the area is cordoned off and there is no danger to the public.

Curnew says the Canadian Forces divers are travelling from Halifax to help safely retrieve and dispose of the object.
