MANGALORE: Honnavar in Honnavar taluk of Uttara Kannada district recorded maximum rainfall of 132mm in Karnataka in the last 24-hours up to 8.30am on August 26. Aurad hobli in Aurad taluk of Bidar district recorded maximum temperature of 36.5°C on August 25 at 1.30pm. Dabaka hobli in Aurad taluk of Bidar district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 16.8°C on August 25 at 6pm, KSNDMC, Bangalore said.
Maximum temperature fell at many places over Malnad region; so at a few places interior Karnataka and coastal Karnataka and changed little over remaining parts of the state. The minimum temperature changed little over the state. More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 40% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 0% geographical area in the state.
Rainfall over the state is considered as scattered since 42% of hoblis and gram panchayats recorded rainfall of 2.5mm. Very heavy rain was recorded in one gram panchayat (GP); heavy rain in 32 panchayats, rather heavy rain in 81 GPs; moderate rain in 391 GPs; light rain in 222 GPs; very light rain in 258 GPs; and no rain in remaining 961 GPs.
Karnataka for the period from August 18 to August 26 recorded surplus rainfall of 92%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 41mm in south-interior, north-interior, malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 79mm. For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on August 26, four geographical regions received 10.6mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 5.1mm, a 107% surplus departure from normal.
