MUMBAI: Striker
Arbaaz Shaikh and defender
Suraj Yadav, the mainstays of the Kandivli's Thakur Vidya Mandir school football team, had their exams on Monday with a science paper staring at them.
However, both the 15-yearolds had their minds at the Cooperage where their team was scheduled to take on RSB Arya Vidya Mandir (Juhu) in the under-16 boys' Division III semifinals of the Mumbai Indians-MSSA inter-school football tournament.
They couldn't focus on their exams though and the Std X students left the paper blank to rush to the ground and eventually emerged as heroes for their team.
Shaikh scored two goals while Yadav played a big role in defense as Thakur Vidya Mandir beat Arya Vidya Mandir 3-0 to reach their first ever final in the prestigious tourney.
Thakur School will now clash with St. Pius X from Mulund in the final at 3 pm at the same ground on Wednesday .The Mulund team reached the final by beating Andheri's Hansraj Moraji 2-1.
