McAfee vice president visit

THE vice president of US internet security giant, McAfee, will travel to Ireland to deliver a keynote address to the Women In Security (WISE) Cork chapter.

Patty Hatter is the most senior female executive based in California's famed Silicon Valley.

As well as speaking at the event, she will also tour McAfee's rapidly expanding Cork plant.

The Cork chapter of WISE was founded last November to promote careers within the IT security industry.

NASC interns

immigrant support group NASC has launched a special youth internship programme aimed at offering information technology skills to youngsters from a migrant background.

The programme was developed by Cork Electronics Industry Association (CEIA), Atlantic Philanthropies Director/Employee Designated Gift Fund and NASC, the Irish Immigrant Support Centre.

Four youngsters will develop skills in the area of science, technology, engineering and maths with a view to forging careers in these areas.

Crash appeal

GARDAI have appealed for witnesses to a collision that left the Limerick-Cork road temporarily blocked north of Mallow.

The accident happened at Ballybeg outside Buttevant shortly before 6am.

No one was seriously injured in the collision which involved a saloon car.
