SELMA, Ala., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- An Alabama couple have been charged with forcing a teenage relative into sex so she could bear a child for them.

Amanda and Jeremy Swann, both 29 and residents of Jones, were charged with first-degree rape, authorities said. Dianna Swann, 57, Jeremy's mother, who lives with the couple, was charged Thursday with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Janet Cole, an investigator for the Dallas County sheriff, said the victim, 14, reported the sexual assaults when an investigator for the state Department of Human Resources came to the house. The investigator was there because the Swanns were seeking custody of the girl, charging that Amanda's mother had sexually assaulted her.

The girl reported being raped multiple times over a period of months, Cole said.

"They propositioned her to have sex with Jeremy so that she could get pregnant, and so she could have a baby for them," Cole said. "The victim told us it happened at least six times."

Dianna Swann was fully aware of what was going on, Cole said.

"She was present when all the sexual acts were going on," Cole said. "She was there. She heard the girl screaming, and she did nothing."

Bail was set at $500,000 each for Amanda and Jeremy and $6,000 for Dianna. All three were scheduled for a hearing Monday afternoon.

Cole said the couple could face more charges, including incest.
