Hitec Hyderabad to get Wi-Fi by October 2014

Madhapur, Kondapur, Gachibowli and surrounding areas first to be Wi-Fi enabled
Hyderabad:Madhapur, Kondapur (Hitec City), Gachibowli and surrounding areas in Cyberabad will be the first pockets in Greater Hyderabad to have Wi-Fi connectivity. Keeping in mind the 11th World Congress Metropolis Week, scheduled to be held in October this year, which 2,000 delegates from as many as 125 metropolitan cities from around the world will attend, the Telangana government wants to make these areas Wi-Fi enabled on a pilot basis before the conference.
Next on the list are all state universities in Hyderabad, Necklace Road and Secretariat along with other prominent pockets. Three Internet service providers have come forward to extend the Wi-Fi facility in Cyberabad.
GHMC special commissioner Ahmed Babu, said, “The Wi-Fi connectivity will purely be on proof of concept basis. Companies like Reliance have offered the service. The state government, on a pilot basis, will make the areas around Hyderabad International Convention Centre, where the international delegation will be put up, Wi-Fi-enabled before the conference kicks off.
Later, the entire city will become WiFi-enabled. There is a proposal to allow aerial cables for 4G services by Reliance Jio Infocomm. The rates for utilising the poles have not yet been finalized,”
The state government wants to roll out 4G services in the entire city by December this year.
Rail-Tel has been consulted for services along Necklace Road, as the railway network is very close to the area. Government officials are also contemplating allowing aerial cables, as issues like unavailability of underground optical fiber cable have made it difficult to extend the facility to many areas in Greater Hyderabad.
