The application is in development for quite some time now

Microsoft fans will be pleased to know that VideoLan’s popular VLC video player is about to make its debut on Windows 8.1 operating system. The information has recently been confirmed by Thomas Nigro, one of the app’s developers.

The bad news is that the Windows Phone version has been delayed once again. VLC for Windows Phone has been in the works for quite some time now, but it looks like every time VideoLan is about to make it available for download, something else gets in the way and they are force to delay it.

According to Nigro, while “VLC for Windows 8.1 is quite ready,” they still need some time to fix a few issues. He has also confirmed that VideoLan had to “delay on Windows Phone” as the company prefers “to ship a good version instead of a boggy one.”

Even though it’s for a good cause, the fact that VLC for Windows Phone is still showing as “coming soon” for a very long time it’s really disappointing for fans of this particular operating system.

Although no additional details on the reasons of the delay have been announced, from what Nigro says, it appears that there might still be some features that are not working as intended and they need to correct these issue. Here is hoping VLC for Windows Phone will be released sooner rather than later.
