Darkness at accident spot, and prayers for victims

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic Administration) Pawan Kumar said, “We have sent many reminders to the municipal corporation for repairing the lights, but to no effect.”

MC chief engineer Mukesh Anand could not be contacted despite many attempts.

CRPF constable K Kutty said, “We have also complained many times. I was posted here a month back and since then the lights have not been working. My colleagues tell me that the lights have been out of order for a few months.”

Members of an organisation, Luv-Kush Sewadal, held a hawan near the spot on Sunday morning and prayed for the victims. Ashwani Baghania, chairperson of the organisation, said, “On the main road, there are no lights at all. Residents have complained about it, poles have been installed, but there are no bulbs yet.’’
