Brahmaputra flowing close to danger mark
Brahmaputra is flowing 0.47 metre below the previous high flood level of 87.37 metre recorded in 1991
New Delhi: River Brahmaputra in Assam was flowing in high flood situation, the government said on Sunday after monitoring the latest recordings.
“River Brahmaputra at Neamatighat in Jorhat district of Assam is now flowing in high flood situation," the ministry of water resources said.
At 3 pm on Sunday, it was flowing at a level of 86.9 metre with rising trend which is 1.86 metre above its danger level of 85.04 metre and 0.47 metre below its previous high flood level (HFL) of 87.37 metre recorded on 11 July 1991.
However, the river has receded from high flood situation to moderate flood situation at Dibrugarh, the ministry said.
At 3 pm on Sunday, it was flowing at 105.97 metre with falling trend, 0.27 metre above its danger level of 105.7 metre and 0.51 metre below its previous HFL of 106.48 metre recorded on 3 September 1998, it said.
