The scales of justice represent impartiality and equal justice to all. But what is one supposed to do when the scales are 'titled'.

One Anand Haldar received a setback of sorts when summons from a Karkardooma court sent to him showed a 'tilted' scale. The scales of justice embossed on the letter were tilted heavily to one side, which, according to him, meant "do not expect equal justice".

Though Haldar appeared in the court on Friday and deposed as a witness in a twoyear-old case in which he was thrashed by some men at a wedding party, he didn't miss a chance to write to the law ministry, with the help of his employer, to bring the 'injustice' to their notice.

The letter written by his employer Ullhas P R, a film producer, said, "The summons to a witness by a Karkardooma court has an image of scales which is heavier on one side. It should be equal on both sides since the scales mean equal justice to all and no one is above the law."
