NICK Cannon says he is the one who walked out on his marriage to Mariah Carey saying he is concerned that her fragile emotional state is impacting their twins.

Sources close to the couple told TMZ that he thinks the environment around Carey is toxic and that the children are already showing signs of being emotionally upset.

Cannon is reportedly concerned about Carey’s mental health and worries that her staffers don’t actually care about her and just want her to make money.

The X Factor host told The Insider this week confirmed the split rumours.

“There is trouble in paradise ... we have been living in separate houses for a few months,” he said.

Carey’s representative said that “Mariah is focusing on her children and her upcoming tour.”

The singer’s new album, Me. I Am Mariah ... The Elusive Chanteuse, has tanked.

She was also reportedly upset after Cannon listed five of the celebrities that he had slept with in a radio interview.

“That’s easy. OK, Mariah Carey, Christina Milian, Nicole Scherzinger, Selita Ebanks, oh, Kim Kardashian,” he said.

TMZ says that Cannon has told his lawyer to take a “passive” role in divorce proceedings so that the split can be as peaceful as possible.

Cannon and Carey married in 2008 following a whirlwind two month romance. Carey gave birth to their twins Monroe and Moroccan in April 2011.
