Newly constructed trauma centre handed over to BHU

The newly constructed trauma centre of the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) was handed over to the university on Saturday.

Varanasi: The newly constructed trauma centre of the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) was handed over to the university on Saturday.
Financially supported under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), the trauma centre was constructed by CPWD at the cost of Rs 147 crores.
IMS director Rana Gopal Singh said that the trauma centre would be made functional soon.

It may prove to be a boon for the patients belonging to east UP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, north MP and Jharkhand. The 324-bed trauma centre is bigger than the one at AIIMS, New Delhi.
A number of specialized departments under the faculty of medicine, including orthopaedics, neurosurgery, plastic surgery and cardio-vascular surgery will be part of the trauma centre.
BHU staff bids adieu to ex-VC
The teachers and staff of Banaras Hindu University bid adieu to Lalji Singh, who had completed his tenure as vice-chancellor. He left for Hyderabad on Saturday. The charge of vice-chancellor was given to registrar Vinay Kumar Singh on Friday.

‘Mahila Kutchehry’
In order to create awareness among rural women against domestic violence, divorce and sexual harassment, Vishal Bharat Sansthan, in collaboration with Punjab National Bank, organised a ‘Mahila Kutchehry’ in Sindhora on Saturday.
During the session, the women were motivated to avail the facility of bank for self-employment and become financially independent. They were also informed about the importance of Right to Information (RTI) Act.
A Women Empowerment Centre was inaugurated by former central information commissioner OP Kejriwal.
