It is becoming increasing difficult to choose which smartphone or tablet to buy with so many options available in the market. In case you happen to miss the latest top smartphone and tablet reviews, here’s a recap.
While we have seen lots of 7-inch tablets in recent weeks, it is after a while that a premium tablet has hit the shelves. This tab has been made to perform, with one of the best processors in the market. It is as if multitasking is what gives the tab a high and Samsung has created it for this very thing. You can play a Full HD video and open the Chrome browser in the rest of the screen using multi-window and the tab won’t complain. If you are looking for a tablet which you want to use for productivity as well as fun, then the Tab S is a good choice.
When launched earlier this year, the HTC One M8 came in for some rave reviews primarily because the company had innovated a lot with the hardware and software. Buoyed by the success of this flagship, HTC is in carpet bombing mode. It now has a smartphone to offer at every possible price point, almost shedding its tag as a premium player. The HTC One E8 is almost like a budget flagship. This is one of the fastest phone camera in town.
Coming a year after the success of the LG G2, the LG G3 was among the most awaited phones of 2014. The phone has thankfully come to India soon after its global launch, indicating that the Korean company has finally woken up to the potential of the Indian smartphone market thanks to the popularity of its Google Nexus 5. But is the LG G3 a worth successor to the G2 and can it be relevant at a time when the Indian market and consumers seem to be veering towards more value for money Android phones like the Asus Zenfone 5 and the Xiaomi MI3.
The Sony Xperia T3 is a good phone for the regular user, if you overlook the fact that it could have used 16GB storage considering its price. There is also the impending threat from the new much cheaper mid-range phones, which makes the T3 seem too pricey. But Sony has thankfully softened the blow by bundling its Smartband and a case with the phone. It seems like a reasonable deal if you look at the overall package.
Spice Retail Limited launched its first hexa-core powered smartphone, called Stellar Mi-526, this July.Spice has been successful in adding a premium feel to its Stellar Mi 526. Despite the body being mostly made of plastic, the Stellar Mi 526 doesn’t give the feel of cheap plastic at all. The brushed aluminium paint job at the back along with the metallic rim surrounding the glass, which covers the entire front-side, gives it a premium look. The 5-inch HD one cell IPS display does a great job. The viewing angles are good. Indoors, you will have no complaints with the display at all.
Milagrow had entered the tablet market a couple years back with its TabTop range of tablet PCs and since then it has been trying hard to make a dent on the minds of Indian tablet buyers. However, the company is struggling to strike the right balance of price, specs and quality, given the fact that most of its tablet models are targeting the mid-range market. At Rs. 21,990, the device ends up providing a basic experience, especially, when brands like Samsung, LG and Asus Google Nexus has a lot more in its kitty to attract Android tablet buyers with a budget of something between Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 25,000.
The Octopus S520 is the flagship smartphone from Obi Mobiles. It is available initially for purchase through Snapdeal at Rs 11,990. The device is also one of the tougher-feeling mid-range phones. It packs high-performing hardware and multitasking capabilities in a sleek metallic design powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa Core processor. The phone sports the current version of Android Kit Kat 4.4 and a 12.7 cm HD IPS touchscreen. The latter is super-tough, super scratch-resistant and doesn’t bend under the pressure of your finger, giving the phone a reassuring immovable feel.
Spice Smart Pulse M 9010 smartwatch
The Spice Smart Pulse M 9010 looks like a watch and is worn as one. But the toughest thing to do on the device is to check time. You need to use your other hand to press the power button on the left of the screen to bring it to life. The 4-CM LCD screen has the three — options, home and back — button under it. There is something that looks like a camera and an LED flash on the right, but no way to access it on the device itself. The best thing about the watch is the micro-USB port on the left, which means you can charge this directly and do not need an extra piece like in the Samsung Gear or special chargers like in the Pebble.
