JAMMU, Aug 22: The 4-day 45th KVS Regional Sports Meet concluded with grand valedictory functions at various Kendriya Vidyalayas, here today.
The regional sports meet concluded at KV No-2 Jammu Cantt and AS Gill, Assistant Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Regional Office, Jammu distributed prizes among the winners on the concluding function.
In cricket Under-19 boys, KV Kishtwar emerged champion, while KV Suranussi and KV No-2 Jammu claimed second and third spot respectively. KV No-4 Pathankot won Under-17 boys lawn tennis Under-17 team title, while KV No-2 Jammu and KV No-3 Jallandhar bagged silver and bronze respectively and in lawn tennis Under-19 individual, KV No-2 Jammu Cantt won all the three positions. In lawn tennis Under-19 team event, KV No-2 Jammu Cantt and KV No-4 Pathankot claimed 1st and second spots respectively.
The 45th Regional Sports Meet for girls in Throw ball, Jumping, Lawn Tennis, Chess, Skating under the age groups of 14, 17 and 19 concluded at K V Sunjuwan.
A total of 250 players drawn from 18 different Kendriya Vidyalaya’s of Jammu Region participated in the event under the supervision of Rajesh  Sharma.
Col Anupam Shrimali, Deputy Commander 36 Infantry Bde Sunjuwan was the chief guest who presided over the valedictory ceremony.
In throw ball KV No-2 Jallandhar pocketed the first position while 2nd position was bagged by KV No-3 Jallandhar and the third position was clinched by KV Sunjuwan.
In chess Under-19 event, Sundi Manahs of KV Nagrota clinched 1st position, while Nikhita of KV Jahalander Cantt and Pallavi (Under -17) Vidushi of KV No-1 Gandhi Nagar clinched 1st position. Sonali of  KV Kathua pocketed 3rd position.
In Lawn Tennis Akansha of KV No-3 Jallandhar clinched the first position while Manika of KV No-2 Jammu bagged 2nd position and third position was clinched by Kirit of K V Pathankot and Shewata of KV No-2 Jammu.
In Jump Rope Under-19, Komal of KV Sunjuwan, Sham Bhagat of Miran Sahib, Sneha of KV Sunjuwan and Akriti of KV.Sunjuwan bagged first position. In single hub Under-17, Kalpana of Miran Sahib and Ritu Sharma of Miran Sahib bagged first position. Arzoo of Bantalab in Endurance and Kirite of KV Sunjuwan in Double Under clinched second position. Ten girls selected in skating, 12 girls in throw ball, 16 girls in jump rope and 9 girls in lawn tennis and 10 girls in chess and they will represent Jammu Region in Nationals to be held in Ahmedabad.

KVS Regional Sports Meet 2014-15 in Handball (boys) was successfully organized in KV Nagrota from August 19 to Aug 22, 2014. The teams from KV No-1 Udhampur, KV No-2 Udhampur, KV Hiranagar, KV Nagrota, KV 2 Akhnoor, KV No1 Amritsar and KV Surranasi participated in the event with great enthusiasm.
KV Nagrota won the gold medal whereas the teams of KV No-1Amritsar and KV Suranassi bagged silver and bronze medals respectively. The winners were honoured with medals by the chief guest, chairman VMC   Brig D S Tripathi, 16 Corps Arty Bde.
The event was conducted by the 4 senior officials from the J&K Handball Association.
A V L J Rao, Deputy Commi-ssioner KVS (RO) Jammu and Brig D S Tripathi, Chairman VMC, KV Nagrota graced the concluding day with their presence.
The programme was organized under the overall supervision of R K Shukla, Principal, KV Nagrota and Director KV Nagrota.
The programme was coordinated by Amriek Singh, TGT (P&HE) KV Nagrota.
Bimla Pandit, Vice- Principal and Ram Vilas Ram, PGT (Hindi) supervised the event.
45th KVS Regional Sports Meet Kho-Kho Under-19 boys ended with great enthusiasm and exhilaration in the school premises.
220 players participated in the event.
C R Bhagat,  Principal K V Domana was the chief guest on the occasion.
V Santhosh Kumar, Principal K V Bantalab presented welcome address, which was followed by a beautiful cultural programme and march past.
KV No-1 Akhnoor, under the captaincy of Master Sultan won the gold medal, while K V Miran Sahib and K V Bantalab claimed second and third position respectively.
Vote of thanks was presented by Sriniwas Sharma, TGT Physical Education, KV Bantalab.
45th KVS Regional Sports Meet of Skating and Chess Under-17 and 19 years concluded at Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.  T R Choudhary, Principal, K V No-1, Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, who gave away the medals to the winners of the skating and chess competitions.
Earlier, the final round of chess was played between the players in the age groups of Under-17 years.
The selection of players for participation in the forthcoming KVS National Sports Meet was also made during the event.
Mr Choudhary in his address advised the selected players to prepare themselves for excellent performance in the KVS Nationals.
190 students and 31 escorts from Kendriya Vidyalayas, situated in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and J&K participated in this sporting extravaganza.
