Indo-Japanese electric two wheeler maker Morello Yamasaki will reveal its new scooter named 'Nirbhaya' in India during the upcoming festive season. This scooter has been exclusively designed for women riders across the country and will reach the market within the next two months. 'Nirbhaya' is likely to be priced at about Rs 35,000. Interestingly, this unique product from Morello Yamasaki will be available at a discount of 10% for women.

The USP of Nirbhaya is GPRS connectivity and an SOS button, which would enable women drivers to send multiple SMSes to their family members in case of imminent danger. Additionally, recipients of the message will also be able to track the location of the rider. The riders of this E-bike do not require a driving license and its maximum speed will be limited to 25 kmph.


Morello Yamasaki as a brand is the Joint Venture between Mumbai-based Arya Group and Yamasaki Motors of Japan. Currently the new company sells two E-bikes named Punk and Ripple. Incidentally, it is also looking to launch high speed scooters in India within coming months, for which it will invest Rs 155 crore in order to set up a new manufacturing facility at Ahmedabad. This plant is expected to be complete by 2015-16.Most components of Morello Yamasaki scooters at present are being manufactured outside India and the company targets 90 percent local production by 2015.


Rajit Arya, CEO of Morelllo Yamasaki scooters said, "This new plant which will come up about 50 kilometers from Ahmadabad will initially have a capacity to produce 60,000 units of e-bikes by 2015-16. This capacity can be scaled up to a million units by 2019-20. "
