4 Colorado Springs firms make Inc.'s list of the 5,000 fastest- growing companies [Gazette, The (CO)]

(Gazette, The (CO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) This year's list of the nation's 5,000 fastest-growing companies from Inc. magazine was as notable for which Colorado Springs company didn't make the cut as it was for the four local firms that did - including two that qualified for the first time.

Intelligent Software Systems Inc., which has been on the Inc. list every year but one from 2004 to 2013, didn't make it this year, likely because its revenue didn't grow enough in the last three years. Companies needed a 42 percent growth rate from 2010 through 2013 to qualify.

The Colorado Springs-based developer of data integration, analysis and reporting software ranked 2,482nd on the 2013 list with revenue growth of 144 percent in the previous five years.

Company officials were not available Thursday for comment.

Themesoft Inc., an information technology staffing company that started in 2004, debuted on this year's list at 469th and was the highest-ranked Colorado Springs company. From 2010 through 2013, its revenue grew 1,001 percent, from $2.1 million to $23.1 million.

The other Colorado Springs company making its debut was Xtivia Inc., a database management provider owned by Israeli information technology company Matrix. It ranked 4,670th.

Two others - Braxton Science & Technology Group and Infinity Systems Engineering LLC - made repeat appearances on the list, which was posted Wednesday on the magazine's inc.com website and will appear in its September print edition.

Fuhu Inc., an El Segundo, Calif.-based creator of an Android tablet for kids and an Adobe Air application that allows children to access the Internet in a parent-controlled environment, topped the list for a second consecutive year. Only one other company, Charlotte, N.C.-based Cogentrix Energy Power Management LLC, ranked first in consecutive years.

Boulder-based minuteKEY Inc., which operates self-service, automated key duplication kiosks located in large chain retailers, was the top-ranked Colorado company on the national list, ranking 11th in its debut. In all, there were 122 Colorado companies on the list, including 90 from Denver.
