Student, teacher accuse nursing college MD of sexual misconduct
JALANDHAR: A student and a teacher of a nursing college in Goraya town have levelled allegations of sexual advances being made by the managing director of the institute. They also claimed that they had made a complaint in the matter at Goraya police station, but no action was being taken.
The two, in presence of other students of the college, alleged that the MD used to call them to his office and make sexual advances.
"Three months back, it came out that he was doing it with several girls. When the issue came out in the open, he apologized and promised that no such thing would happen in future," they said. However, the two said that it started again a few days back, and on August 19, a complaint was made with police, but no action was being taken and instead, the teacher was being threatened.
While the college MD did not pick up his phone, Goraya station house officer (SHO) D S Gill said he had not received any complaint from girls about sexual advances or harassment. Gill said the only complaint was from a warden against the teacher who had leveled allegations of sexual harassment against the MD. "Earlier also they had settled the matter internally. Now also they are saying that they would settle the issue among themselves. It is an internal dispute within the college regarding the management. Allegations of sexual harassment have never been reported to police," he said.
