Manesar to get new fire station soon
GURGAON: Maneswar, the industrial model township (IMT) will soon get its own fire station.
The decks for the new fire station have been cleared and officials of the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIDC) said they are now awaiting the final go-ahead from the state government.
"We have finalized Sector 8 as the location for the new fire station.
We are waiting for the state government's approval before releasing the tender," said an HSIIDC official in Manesar.
The two-acre area has been chosen because it's centrally located and close to areas where fire accidents are common.
Recently, senior officials of the district fire department also visited Manesar to survey the site in Sector 8. "The fire department has also issued a suitability certificate for the fire station land here," the HSIIDC official said.
According to reports, the estimated budget for the new fire station is Rs 5 crore. But, officials have not confirmed if a timeline is set for the completion of the project.
Local industrialists have been vociferous in their demand that the government set up a fire station in Maneswar as soon as possible.

"It is a matter of great surprise why the government officials are not acting on this, and have still not provided this basic and important service to the industry," the IMT Industrial Association said in a statement.
Earlier, the fire station project had hit a roadblock over the issue of money. The HSIIDC, according to sources, was trying to get the MCG to incur the expenses of building a fire station, since the fire department was under the municipal ambit. Now, the dispute seems to have been resolved.
"IMT's location is such that if there is an incident of fire, it usually takes the first fire tender around 45 minutes to reach the site, which is a lot. We think it is great if the authorities are finally getting their act together on this issue," said Manmohan Gaind of Maneswar Industrial Welfare Association.
