CHAMPIONS Dynamos failed to rise beyond the turbulence that rocked their camp in the last two weeks when they allowed rivals Hwange to come from behind and snatch a late equaliser in a Premiership match at Rufaro yesterday. The Glamour Boys, who had returned to Rufaro for the first time this season, looked like they were headed for a slender victory to put some gloss on a horrible week which saw them being eliminated from the Chibuku Super Cup and the nasty training bust-up between their captain Murape Murape and Rodreck Mutuma.

However, the point was enough to hoist them to the top above newboys ZPC Kariba who lost for the first time in the Castle Lager Premiership at Chapungu the previous day.

DeMbare led for the most part of the game yesterday after Tafadzwa Rusike had put them ahead with a 25th minute strike.
A win could have left them sitting pretty at the top, with a four-point cushion, but the Harare giants could not reproduce their first half show after the interval.
Both teams missed their coaches, Callisto Pasuwa and Nation Dube, who are currently attending a Caf A Licence coach.

Philemon Mutyakureva was in charge of the Glamour Boys yesterday while Brian Njovu directed operations for Hwange who collected a priceless point to maintain their place in the top five with 31 points.

DeMbare former player Farai Vimisayi denied them maximum points with less than a minute remaining in regulation time.
Vimisayi was at the right place as he controlled the ball well inside the box before stabbing it wide of the diving goalkeeper.

“I am happy I scored against Dynamos but I feel we should have won that match. The away point though is healthy for us.
“Football is about friendship, it’s a sport. It’s not about revenge or anything. We are employed to play and win and the more we score the better it gets for us financially. We also support that team but we are at work here.

“We didn’t look down when we went down in the first half. We kept fighting as a team and we managed to get something out of it. If you noticed they didn’t play well in the second half,” said Vimisayi.

Dynamos could have taken the lead as early as the fifth minute when Rusike released Simba Sithole with a through ball from their own half but the striker failed to beat the only obstacle in his way, advancing goalkeeper Takabva Mawaya.

Then Farai Mupasiri made a fine run down the left channel moments later as DeMbare got another good chance to justify their industry in the opening half.
But the angle kept narrowing under challenge from two defenders and the final effort was disappointing.

Rusike gave DeMbare the lead when his attempted cross was helped into the nets by goalkeeper Mawaya in an attempt to clear his lines.
“Everyone is disappointed with the resulted but it’s part of football,” said Rusike.
“We created chances in the first half but we didn’t utilise them. We need a win in our next game. We will try to fix it back at training.”
