Submit proposals for cleanliness drive: Upadhyay to councillors

Modi had stressed on cleanliness and sanitation, asking citizens to pledge to keep their surroundings clean.

Delhi BJP chief and chairman of the standing committee in the South Municipal Corporation Satish Upadhyay, on Thursday, directed all councillors, irrespective of their political party, to submit a plan for cleaning the city as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address.

Modi had stressed on cleanliness and sanitation, asking citizens to pledge to keep their surroundings clean.

Upadhyay has asked councillors to come up with proposals for a 100-day sanitation programme. The deadline to submit the proposals is September 25 so that the campaign can be announced on October 2, the BJP chief said.

“We need to follow up on Modiji’s Independence Day request. All councillors must come up with cleanliness-related projects,” Upadhyay said.

Speaking to Newsline, Upadhyay said that the corporation will go “beyond its daily duties” to make the city look cleaner. “We will take care of micro detailing of the city and give it a fresh look within the stipulated 100 days of our sanitation drive,” Upadhyay said. This will include minor repair works and maintenance of public spaces.
