An offence of possessing disproportionate assets was registered against former minister of state Ramdas Maniram Bodkhe, of Akot tehsil.

AKOLA: An offence of possessing disproportionate assets was registered against former minister of state Ramdas Maniram Bodkhe, of Akot tehsil. His sons Sanjay, Vijay, Deepak, Pramod, Manoj and Praveen, and brother Devidas too were booked.
The property disproportionate to the known sources of income is worth 30,34,158 in the form of plots, ornaments and bank deposits. Purushottam Choukhande, former president of Akot Municipal Council, had lodged the complaint.
76% voting recorded in Mahabeej polls
Akola: About 76.37% voting has been recorded in the election of directors of Mahabeej (Maharashtra State Seeds Corporation with state headquarters at Akola) till the last day of polling by postal ballot till August 14, official sources said. The counting of votes will be held on Friday and the result will be declared on the same day. Sanjay Dhotre, BJP MP Akola, Prashant Gwande and Pratap B Kuyar from Amravati district are in fray from Akola-Vidarbha constituency. Nandkumar Bhosle (Parbhani), Rajeshwar Pawde (Nanded) and Vallabhrao Deshmukh (Buldhana) are in fray from the rest of Maharasthra constituency.
Consumer court directs petrol pump owner to pay compensation to customer
Akola: The Akola District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum directed the owner of a petrol pump Hari Om Sales of Murtizapur to pay 5,000 as compensation for physical and mental agony to a complaint Digvijay Gadekar of village Hatgaon. Gadekar had bought a litre of petrol at 71.22 on May 1, 2013 whereas the price of one litre petrol was reduced by 3 since midnight of April 30 last year.

Continued dry spell in west Vidarbha
Akola: The green dream of farmers in west Vidarbha region has taken a hit as crops are withered due to continued dry spell since three weeks. Dr PG Ingole, director research of Dr PDKV Akola, said that crops on the field would be in danger if no rains were experienced in next two-three days
Med officer caught taking bribe
Bhandara: Medical officer Dr Amar Dattu Shende was caught red-handed while accepting bribe of 6,000. ACB sleuths trapped him on Tuesday as he was accepting a bribe from a junior staffer at his house in Pavni. tnn
Dr Amar Dattu Shende, 52, was posted as Medical Officer in Savarla (tehsil Pavni) Primary Health Center (PHC) while complainant Surendra Harade worked as a junior clerk. Dr Shende had been torturing him on one or the other pretext, and threatening to get him removed from his job by complaining to the higher authorities.
Dr Shende demanded Rs 6,000 per month from Harade to let him continue in the job. Harade started paying the amount regularly to Dr Shende through another junior clerk Chandramani Meshram. The latter too had started financially exploiting Harade.
The complainant was paying the money regularly, but failed to pay the amount in July, and Dr Shende immediately threatened him with dire consequences. Fed up with the torture by Dr Shende, Harade approached the deputy superintendent of Anti-Corruption Bureau at Bhandara. Sleuths verified the details of the complainant and then laid a trap on Dr Shende on Tuesday.
Dr Shende was caught red-handed at his house in Pavni. His junior clerk Chandramani Meshram is being treated as an accomplice and will also be prosecuted.
