The lead characters of the Pakistani show, Zindagi Gulzar Hai – Kashaf Murtaza and Zaroon Junaid played by Sanam Saeed and Fawad Khan respectively – made a deep impact on the Indian audience when the show aired on Zindagi. When the 26-episode series went off-air on July 18, the show was brought back on audience demand, forcing the channel to telecast it within a month. The telecast has now begun in the 7.10 pm slot.
Shailja Kejriwal, Chief Creative Head – Special Projects, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, who is helming Zindagi, remarks that within five days of the show going off-air, the channel received more than five-and-a-half lakh calls. “After that, we stopped counting,” she quips as she informs that a dialogue has started between the youngsters of the two countries on the channel’s official pages on the social networking sites. “This kind of euphoria hasn’t generated earlier for a show or a channel and the feeling is really overwhelming,” says Shailaja, who remarks that all the shows on air on Zindagi have an underlying message of feminism which would gradually start making an impact.
Priyanka Datta, Business Head, Zindagi said, “We are catering to those people who want to see natural acting over melodrama, meaningful finite stories shot in natural surroundings and some heartwarming music.”
