The entire cast and crew of Happy New Year was present at the stunning trailer launch of the film in Mumbai on August 14. Producer Shah Rukh Khan, who also plays one of the principal characters, stated that the first look of a film was always very important, and it was essential for him to give the film a certain quality. He is now looking forward to the world tour with his co-stars to promote Happy New…
“I haven’t gone on a world tour for the last 10 years. Some of my co-stars too haven’t gone, but when you have a film like Happy New Year which is about song and dance and has a big team too, we thought, mauka hai dastur hai, so why not? But it’s not really a marketing strategy. We had a great time making the film and tonight is poignant as the film goes out to the public and does not remain ours any longer. As we bonded so well, I wanted the whole team to stay together for some more time. If Slam! The Tour adds on to the film then wonderful, and even if it doesn’t, it will still be wonderful,” said King Khan.
The actor was also excited that Happy New Year was the first film to have dance and heist as a subject, making it unique. “It’s an amazingly new concept. And the way it has been visualised and shot, it can compete with any international film. The action and the heist is very thrilling and certain scenes like my introduction and Sonu Sood’s entry are something to look out for,” said Khan adding that he has made the film with honesty.
Leading lady Deepika Padukone, who plays a bar-dancer, was also excited to explore a new genre. “I have done love stories, but a film like this is a first for me.” In fact, she plays a Maharashtrian girl and her character has been intentionally named Mohini by director Farah Khan. It was inspired by Madhuri Dixit’s song Ek do teen from Tezaab. “I wanted 500 men calling out Mohini, Mohini during Deepika’s entry,” said the director.
The film, about a group of people trying to achieve their dreams, has all the ingredients of an entertainer and as Abhishek Bachchan, who reportedly plays a double role, summed it up, “It’s a film Manmohan Desai would have been proud of.”

New musical alliance

Singer and music producer Dr.Zeus, best known for the popular Punjabi number Kangana, has collaborated with music director duo Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani for a hardcore dance number, which according to a source close to the project, has been crooned by Baby Doll singer Kanika Kapoor. To be picturised on Deepika Padukone in a bar, it will be played during the film’s opening. The recording and mixing of the song was done recently in Mumbai with Dadlani even posting a photograph of himself with Zeus.

A special Donut for the film

Mad Over Donuts which has associated itself with Happy New Year has created a special IndiaWaale Donut to go with the patriotic theme of the film. This special Donut was an integral part of the trailer launch and will be promoting the specially-created IndiaWaale Donuts from October across their 54 stores in the country.
