Last week, the curtains came down on the magnum opus Mahabharat on Star Plus. The show that was produced by Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Swastik Pictures, was appreciated by viewers for recreating mythology on the small screen. Now, Tewary will be taking his expertise in creating period drama a step ahead.
According to sources from his production unit, Swastik Pictures is quietly working on a show based on the life of King Asoka (for Star Plus) and another on the only woman ruler of the Delhi Sultanate, Razia Sultan (for Zee TV).
Interestingly, research for both the shows have been on for sometime now. Sources say that just like Mahabharat, these shows will also be finite in nature and will stick to the original story. “Swastik is known for its credible research. Even for these shows, they have set up a good research team,” adds the source.
The show on Asoka will cover the ruler’s life journey. As far as the show on Razia... is concerned, the production house has plans to shoot it in picturesque locations like Kashmir and Istanbul. While, the locations have yet to be finalised, the makers are in the process of casting for the shows.
