Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar inaugurated ‘Bala Panchayat’ programme at Zilla Parishad High School in Kolakaluru village in Tenali mandal in the district on Monday.
Students of various classes discussed on child rights, responsibilities of students and other social problems with Mr. Manohar and other officials who attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said that ‘Bala Panchayats’ will inculcate leadership qualities among the students and develop questioning nature. Students joined in ‘Bala Panchayats’ should explain the villagers on the welfare schemes being sponsored by the Government for the poor.
Students from various schools in 18 panchayats formed ‘Bala Panchayats’ in two mandals. Children will discuss on the problems in villages and in their schools in the panchayats and try to solve them, said the officials.
Mr. Manohar said that a new building would be constructed for Zilla Parishad High School, at a cost of Rs.1.25 crore. British Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Alastair, Unicef chief field officer Liano, joint collector Vivek Yadav, Tenali RDO Srinivas Murthy, and DEO Anjaneyulu participated.
