Raj Kundra, co-owner of Rajasthan Royals and CEO of Satyug Mera Gold Plan, says that he had never confessed before any commission that he was involved in betting. However, he did admit that the betting scandal was a very ‘sad’ episode. “Luckily, we had ‘The Wall’ Rahul Dravid who kept the team together during the crisis,” he exclaimed.

“I can say that I had provided all the answers that were sought from my end to those probing the issue. I am eagerly awaiting the Mudgal Commission report in this regard,” he said, on the sidelines of a promotional event here.

It may be recalled that some of the Rajasthan Royals players were banned for life after allegedly being involved in betting in the high-profile Indian Premier League (IPL).

“We, at Royals, are really pleased that my team is the second most popular in the IPL. And we happen to be the only one in the IPL who are not ‘buying’ stars but ‘creating’ them. Just look at the number of players we sent to the Indian team. It is the highest if you count – from Ravindra Jadeja to the latest star Sanju Samson,” says the proud owner of the Rajasthan outfit.

“Rahul Dravid continues to be our mentor and it is too early to say what our plans are for the next edition of the IPL. From the cricketing perspective, I am glad that we won the inaugural edition and finished runner-up in 2013 and but for one bad game against Mumbai, we could have done better this year too,” he said with a big smile.
