Spied: Upcoming Avventura Gets Snapped; Will it Snatch EcoSport Sales?

With relatively drier monsoons in most parts of the country we are experiencing showers of a different kind. With the festive season ahead it is raining spy pics as the companies are leaving no stone unturned in road-testing their about-to-launch cars to diagnose and rectify all possible gremlins.

We just showed to you the spy pic of Fiat’s compact crossover’s interiors yesterday and our editor today came out with shots of this partially camouflaged Avventura doing the final testing rounds in and around Pune. With the rear hatch-mounted spare wheel, it does look quite butch and the overall stance and stature is also quite substantial.

At the outset, it’s clear that people would be easily convinced to pay a premium over the Punto Evo to buy this one as the difference in road presence itself would be worth it. The same cannot be said about the Cross Polo which hardly looks any different from the regular Polo and the least said about the ugly Etios Cross, the better!

I did mention in my previous piece that the Avventura will carry the same five-speed tranny and same engine options as the Punto Evo. However, if we look at the presentation slide which Fiat showcased to the media at its roadmap unveiling, Avventura crossover will NOT get the 1.2L petrol motor. But, considering the way Fiat has changed its mind at the very last moments, we are really not sure what they said will go true…

However, being heavily based on the Punto EVO should allow Fiat to price this crossover hatch competitively too as it has priced the Punto. I really do hope that the company does not goof up with the pricing as this is one vehicle that has a lot of potential and have got a lot of our readers excited. Though not exactly a competitor to EcoSport in footprint, it can snatch a few irate customers from Ford’s showrooms! And the launch is just around the corner…
