SURAT: A stray dog bit a six-year-old boy on face on government primary school campus at Amba Jungle village of Kaprada taluka of Valsad district on Tuesday. The child was admitted to Dharampur Civil Hospital and needed six stitches to cover the wound. The school is run by district panchayat.
The school authorities said that the dog was sitting on the compound and attacked the kid after someone teased it at around 11.20am on Tuesday when Nilesh Chaudhary, a class I student, was on the campus.

"The incident took place soon after the prayer was over. The child suffered injury above his eye and on his face. He is being treated and currently his condition is normal," said Chandra Bhusra, principal of the school.
Following the incident, officers from district education office in Valsad visited the hospital and inquired about the incident. "I have been informed that a six-year-old child has suffered injury due to dog bite. I am constantly in touch with education department officials. According to them, the child is out of danger and he is getting medical attention," said M L Ratnu, district education officer, Valsad.
Nearly 600 students study in the school that is next to the secondary school. Students from many nearby villages come to this school for study which is one of the popular schools of the area.
