Governor dismisses resignation claims
BHOPAL: Governor Ram Naresh Yadav on Wednesday afternoon put an end to all speculations about his resignation from the post. For the past three days, rumours have been abuzz in Madhya Pradesh about the Governor having already resigned or his intentions to resign as the head of state after calls from the BJP-led NDA Centre.
Tales about his resignation peaked as the Governor reached New Delhi on Wednesday and went to meet Union Home minister Rajnath Singh at 11.30 am.
Later on, speaking to reporters Governor Yadav explained that he had only paid a courtesy call to the Union minister since both hail from Uttar Pradesh and have been chief ministers of the state. He dismissed all claims made about his resignation or any calls from the BJP-led Centre asking for him to step down.
Raj Bhavan officials here told TOI that Governor Yadav was in New Delhi as guest of honour at the Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavna Foundation prize distribution ceremony. The Governor's office ruled out any development on the resignation front. When a Governor resigns, he submits his resignation to the President but Governor Yadav has not visited Raisina Hill, Raj Bhavan officials said.
A section of the media had reported that Governor Yadav decided to step down because the name of his Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Dhanraj Yadav was linked to the Vyapam Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board scam. The Special Task Force (STF) probing the scam registered an FIR against Dhanraj Yadav on December 7 last year accusing him of cheating and forgery in the recruitment of temporary government school teachers.
