Man held for rape bid on cousin

BHOPAL: A man who tried to rape his cousin in Bagh Sewania area on Wednesday was caught by local residents after the girl raised an alarm. Accused was beaten up before being handed over to police.
Police said accused Dilip Singh, 27, visited her cousin aged 21, who was at her home in Vishwakarma Nagar with her kid and sister. He sent the woman's younger sister to get milk and started sexually assaulting her.
But the woman resisted his move and raised an alarm on which Dilip tried to strangulate her. The women fell unconscious due asphyxiation. Meanwhile, her sister returned, but accused attacked her as well.
Hearing the commotion, local residents assembled and caught hold of the accused and beat him up. He was later handed over to police. The woman was rushed to JP hospital where she remains in trauma, police said.
Sexual assault on telecom employee: In another incident, a woman working in telecom department was sexually assaulted by her colleague while she was returning home. Accused tore her clothes on road when the woman raised an alarm. A case was later lodged at the Govindpura police station and the accused identified as Prakash Tiwari was taken into custody.
