Eaton Vance ticks higher in third quarter

Eaton Vance Wednesday reported upbeat results for its fiscal third quarter. The Boston-based investment firm posted earnings of $77.9 million, or 63 cents per share, compared to $23.2 million, or 18 cents per share, in the year-ago period. The year-ago results included costs of $56.9 million related to the retirement of debt. Revenue in the period surged 4.9 percent to $367.6 million, just beating analysts estimates of $365.83 million.
